Safety Tips
- Ensure that upright frames are anchored to the concrete floor
- Insert safety pins where missing in beam connector brackets
- It is common practice to have beam levels completed with safety bars or wire mesh decks
- Check periodically for damage to upright frames and beams. Rack inspections should be performed on a regular basis such as monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual; please refer to article titled, Racking Inspections
- Load capacities should be prominently displayed for each beam level
- If changes are made to existing racking, a PSR will be needed; see article titled, Racking PSR (Pre-Start Health and Safety Review)
- It is best to avoid MOL (Ministry of Labour) Work Orders for racking; refer to article titled, How to Avoid MOL Work Orders for Racking.
